to raise Funds for the Canadian Tire JumpStart program

In December of 2009 a basketball tournament was held at NLSS to raise funds for the Canadian Tire Jumpstart program. The Canadian Tire Jumpstart program is a community-based charitable program that helps kids in financial need participate in organized sport and recreation opportunities.

We chose to support Jumpstart because of the help they have given to our school in the past. Students raised funds by paying an entry fee to play in the tournament, paying to attend the championship game, and through holding a bakesale. Altogether we raised $306.55.

Four co-ed teams played in the tournament.

The tournament was named 'Shane's Tournament' after tournament co-organizer, Shane Wabano.

T-shirts for the tournament were designed by Grade 10 student Terence Chakasim and were given away as prizes to the winning team.

The winning team in the tournament was the Blue team. Congratulations to the winning team and thanks to all of our student's for their charitable contributions.
